Heather and David were married in SC this past weekend and I can't wait to share all of their fun details... These images were taken at their reception at River Hills Country Club~ It was beautiful and gave way to an incredible back drop...

I always enjoy shooting in St. Augustine~ and you can never go wrong anywhere around the Casa Monica Hotel... Loved that this old jaguar happened to be parked and ready- almost like it was just waiting for us! Be on the look out for Anthony and Tressa's wedding coming up soon! It will be gorgeous!

Loved their session..Though it was quite chilly, they didn't once complain about it- they just jumped right into the session with both feet and had fun until the last frame was shot!

It was my first visit to the St. Augustine Lighthouse~ and worth the drive for anyone wanting something different to do. The staff was wonderful and knowledgeable and I will definitely be back soon.

Just a sneak peek~ I promise more is to come later.... but how adorable are they! Wes and I headed down to St. Augustine with Carolyn and Steven last weekend and normally it takes a while to warm up and get a flow going- so when my first few images of the day became my favorites I have to question my theories of photography over the past few years... They very easily were able to let the world (and cameras) drift from around them and really were the only two people in the world... That is a very beautiful definition of love my friends ~one that is full of God and one that puts the other first. I always say that if you put God first in your marriage, everything else will just fall into place.... yours is so simple but it speaks so loudly. I love you guys and am so proud to be part of your very special day. Enjoy! ~S.

Meet Kristen and Lewis... Fun, playful and simply adorable are they. Anytime you plan a shoot you think and talk about how you "want" it to go.... the reality of how it turns out is always quite different. This was just so- different but definetly better! The Russell House was built in 1875 and is full of old world charm. They could not have chosen a better location- every thing about it was just perfect. A huge thank you to Ty and her family for taking time out of their day to come and let us shoot and to Bailes for assisting me. I hope you enjoy the images... Workshops are fun and productive... but even more so when you are surrounded by your closest friends where you can laugh and cut up along the way! Any day with crisp weather and Carolina Blue skies is a perfect day for just about anything in my book- but it was espeically so on Ciara and Zane's wedding day- As always, everything fell beautifully into place as they exchanged vows and said "forever" sealed with sweet kisses. What a nice note to end the wedding season on. I second shot with my very good friends Ron Wilson at the Palm Valley Gardens in Ponte Vedra. Jessica and Josh were married last Sunday beneath a beautiful sky surrounded by friends and family. If you have never been to this particular venue- I can only tell you what a treat the entire place is. From the house to the pond and the walking path along the way, it is beautiful and serene.

And speaking of beautiful and serene- Jessica and Josh's love for each other leaves one speechless. We could not have asked for a nicer location, more beautiful couple and a more fun group of friends than theirs... Our very best to you both!

Heather and David... A Love Song

I met Heather through my friends Megan & Jeff~ who were married on October 10th. Heather was the MOH in their wedding and I am sure through all of the planning process she has received a lot of great pointers on what to do for their very own special day. The day of their shoot was a perfect day to have been out enjoying gorgeous Carolina Blue skies with the first touches of autumn in the air.

We started off in down town Rock Hill, SC ~ It has been so beautifully restored and is just so much fun to shoot with amazing alleys and exciting stairways just ready to be discovered! After leaving RH we headed down to Lansford Canal State Park. To be honest I wasn't sure what to expect, but was so pleasantly surprised with its simplicity. We really had so much fun just talking and enjoying the crisp feeling of fall as we walked through the park taking in the day. Notice how these two love to cuddle and kiss... Two very nice things for marriage don't ya think? Love was definetely in the air!

On the way home I decided to stop at this little cemetary that was barely visible on the side of the road going to the park. Much to my surprise it wasn't little at all- it went way into the woods and some of the head stones dated so far back they were not legible. Some of the ones I could read dated back to the 1700's! I know it is crazy, but I love cemetaries... they really are peacful- this one was just so intriguing the way the trails wound through the forest and the graves were just all about the area with no particular rhyme or reason. I like wondering what their life was like then- Did they face the same issues we do today- obviously the answer is yes and no, but really I think we are all very much alike at the end of the day. Life is meant to love- to enjoy the simple beauties found in it. It might be a walk around the lake, a cup of coffee with your best friend or morning dew on a spider's web. I have to say that every now and then amid all the chaos we call life there are those moments that make you just laugh- not the chuckle we give when a joke is almost funny- but one that makes you giggle every time you rethink the moment... For me it is Emmert.

When we (i.e. his wife) drug him out for this shoot all we heard was, "Fine, but I am only taking 3 pictures and I am done..." Well, after the first 33 pics his tune went something like, "Hey how bout a picture with me and the boy/ with my dog?" I loved it and loved watching everyone having a good time together. It was a great start to my day and I had a lot of fun talking politics and life with ya Emmert. Can't wait to do it again soon!

Yes, I have spent a lot of time in Charleston recently- and have made the most of it while there on two seperate weekends. There is just so much you can do with a session in any given part of Charleston. And to be honest when Ron and I were trying to decide where the best area would be to shoot Ciara and Zane, I think we were a little surprised when we literally did not have to go more than one building over in any direction from where they were staying at the Mills House Hotel. The area is just gorgeous!

I have always loved going to Charleston and distinctly remember my first trip to Charleston when I was just 14. I am in love with the city more today than ever~ With its southern hospitality and charm being everywhere you look along with incredible architecture and history, what's not to love? So when Chris and Missy asked me to shoot their wedding I was more than excited! Theirs was a dream wedding ~ Beautiful Carolina blue skies, a slight breeze and love in the air. The festivities began on Friday evening aboard the Spirit of Charleston for a dinner boat cruise around The Charleston Harbor (and a spectacular dinner might I add.) After having chatted with Debbie on the phone a couple of times I was excited to meet with her and spend some time shooting her and her family. And how adorable is Kendall? Christy + Matt = Their Love Story..

I have been so excited about this wedding since I shot their engagement session back in the spring. What a fun and loving couple. I love it when people just love life and aren't on a serious mission to be serious! Even as they prepared for the ceremony there was a lot of laughter and a calm about the day that was very refreshing. (I was also very excited to see Cari and Andy... I can't believe it has been almost a year since your gorgeous wedding last year.)

The laughter continued long into the night as everyone danced and posed the night away... For the Fab Foto Booth! It was so much fun to watch the most unsuspecting guests get a little crazy for the camera- more to come on that later! A huge thank you to everyone for making the night so memorable and so much fun to photograph. Also to Crystal Hill at Marsh Creek Country Club in beautiful St. Augustine for a sensational job on orchestrating the reception. What an incredible location.

Rain Drops Were Falling on Our Heads...

Celebration Outreach

Today my son Ayden is sick... as he was yesterday and tomorrow isn't looking too good either... but with the help of some children's advil and a small window of "feeling a little better' we went out to the outreach today to lend a photographic hand... As with any thing I donate my time to I always walk away feeling so glad I went. It is my desire to be a blessing and it ends up that I am always reminded of how truly blessed I am everyday.

This particular outreach was to give clothes, food, haircuts, bicycle repairs and other things to people in need. But without knowing it, they gave me so much more. For starters they gave me a new found love for people. A deeper respect. Because no matter where we are in life- we all have basic principle needs and it takes each of us to fulfill that need in each other. We can't survive on our own- and it is amazing to me the power of a hug or the smile of a child.

Just remember that no matter how bad your day at the office was or how long you sat in traffic- you are blessed. And it only takes an act of kindness to bless someone whose life may be harder than whatever it is you are going through. Pastor Stovall has said that if you ever want to know who has it worse than you- just look to your left and your right... Someone you know may be going through the worst thing in their life. A simple note- phone call or hug may just be what they need to make it to another day.

We serve an amazing God and today we saw Him. ~S.

Kollide...

Last night Celebration Church's amazing worship team launched the release of their latest and greatest cd "Kollide"! What an incredible and moving night of worship we had! I could have stayed all night I think! We have such a dedicated group of worship leaders and a team of people who are so gifted and talented that words can't say thank you enough for working so hard. Sometimes what I need most in my week is time to praise and worship and set my heart in an attitude of thankfulness. They bring it in a way that is fun and real. And I have to say that there is no place like home. Thanks again for to our incredible worship team! ~S.

Wow... This summer has been busy and fun and full of all sorts of things. I have taken some much needed time to rest and try (the realllly BIG word being "try") to get organized and refreshed in the area of my site and life in general. Don't ask me just yet how that is going because I can't quite tell myself. You know how it is with any organizing project- it has to get worse before it can get better. {At least that makes me feel better when the contents of my closets are on the floor and in piles all over the house!} So in celebration of the summer- tell me your favorite adventure so far... A Long Time Coming...

The beginning of this story starts about 5 years ago... Two women living in different parts of the country expecting a child. One was to have a girl and the other a boy... For one woman her journey was new- and the other... though not new entirely it had been a few years since having had her first child but fun and exciting all the same.

Each had joined a forum to talk about their pregnancies. People of all stages joined to discuss this pain or this ache or the first feel of butterflies when the baby began moving. With the end of each trimester of the pregnancy you would move to the next level of the forum so you be more specific in learning about what was happening right now. "This week my peanut has developed little arms and is weighing in at 3 oz..." "you are leaking what... from where!" If you have ever had children you discuss parts of the anatomy with complete strangers and feel this is completely normal... Don't ask me why people-I don't make the crazy rules in life, I merely enjoy them... meaning I am open and feel at ease with most people... and realize that if I am honest- I am not the only one in life to have experienced X-Y or Z... so that said, someone out there will find my knowledge useful... (Ok, there is someone out there who doesn't know better and to them I just might be a genius... it could happen..)

So back to my novel... The two women (one having a girl and the other having a boy living in two parts of the country) meet on the forum somewhere towards the end of the first trimester. They discussed many things over the next several months and would even send photos and correspond via email away from the forum. As they neared their due dates with much to do and prepare for they knew it would be a little while before chatting again. I am sure at some point they both wondered if they would chat again or share photos of their new bundles of joy... Their due dates were about two weeks apart...and as it turned out one woman went into labor about a week late and the other about a week early-meeting exactly in the middle. The little girl being born one day before the little boy.

Weeks would pass before correspondence would pick up. Each finding the courage to share photos and a part of their precious life on line with a complete stranger. Their friendship continued and eventually weeks turned to months to years... A friendship that has only grown better just as their children... They often talk about "someday" getting together to meet and introduce the children and just having a cup of coffee.... I think as much as we want to do all of those things life has a way of happening and we get busy and before you know it... 5 years have passed and you know each other very well only through emails and photographs.... It is just not the same as human contact. A hug and a warm smile to say "Hi Friend... I have been thinking about you!"

Then it happened- not as you think in your mind it might if it were you... but it happened that one woman's husband would be working in the exact town of the other... What are the odds... Well, friends they are great! Meet my friends Preeti, Saina and Sudhi! Preeti and I were pregnant with Saina and Ayden at the same time and Saina is one day older than Ayden. You can't even imagine my shock when after we had the kids to find out just how close we were together. And I still can't believe that after 5 years of being online friends they were in Jacksonville for a week! I was so nervous to actually meet her... and that sounds crazy, but talking online and talking face to face are two totally different things! Would she like me- do I talk too much (don't comment about that anyone!) would we have enough in common to carry a conversation- would her hubby think me a complete kook! (Don't answer that either!) =o) But we had a blast- we were able to visit 3 times during the week and it turns out it was like I had seen her yesterday for lunch and there was nothing to be nervous about at all! I adored her so much more in person than I thought would be possible. We even made time for a family session. Sudhi was the best. He literally came straight in from work and into a session! (Thanks again Sudhi! You were amazing!) We went to Walter Jones for the session and thankfully finished up and headed off for margaritas just in time before we got carried away by a swarm of mosquitoes.. Anyway- the story is a true one and one I am just so privileged to be a part of. Saina is just a remarkable little girl and Preeti and Sudhi are simply beautiful from the inside out. We enjoyed all the time we had and look forward to the next time we get together. I will be flying to see them next time!

Many of you remember Ani and Tyler... They celebrated their wedding on June 7 at the beautiful Club Continental. We love photographing at CC because there are just so many opportunities to capture the essence of our couples without ever shooting the same thing twice. Tyler was such a trooper because most guys can withstand 20-30 min. (Max!) of posing and smiling for the camera... but not Tyler. He hung in there and even made suggestions on things he had seen or thought would make a nice image. We even took some time after the festivities to head down town and have some more fun! With a few of their closest friends and family gathered they spoke promised words and sealed them with honey sweet kisses. In between courses of wonderful food and the occasional rain drop, we spent time on the grounds of Club Continental for portraits before heading down town to capture more fun and unique photos that really captured the essence of who they are. Words cannot begin to express everything I feel about this wedding. It was more than an honor to be part of all the events that tell the story of Kris and Ken. It was memories with friends, it was the witnessing of a truly new beginning for one of the dearest friends in my life- someone who if I had to choose only one person in life that deserved happiness would be Kris. She is not only an amazing person- she just has the ability to make you want to be more and better with your life. And not by the words of wisdom or advice, but because of her actions. She is honest and caring and giving and fun and so many other wonderful things that are sappy and girlie but wonderful just the same. And though I haven't known Ken as long as Kris, you would know him just the same because his heart is as open and accepting as hers. He is willing to tell you how much you mean to him- and he does it with a wonderful sincerity. Just seeing their faces and hearing their hearts at the wedding is knowing that they truly love each other with their whole selves and give everything they have to the other first. I love my career choice on any given day, but these moments are the ones that we come back and visit over and over. We really enjoyed making new friends and are so blessed by you. Many thanks to Willie for helping me in the sea of craziness that often takes place before, during and after the wedding.... He def captured many moments I couldn't and I appreciate your being there to help me.

First Date Photos....

So on Easter Sunday we went to Fort Clinch in Fernandina Beach, FL- (I will post more photos later.) but although it is completely shock and awe... I had to give Ayden a spat on his hiney because he was just completely out of control- I know it makes me the worst parent ever, but so be it.. I refuse to have that child that everyone can't stand to be around because they are just rude and obnoxious! Anyway- so after I gave him one spat- and it wasn't really on his butt because he covered it with his hands- I made him sit down and calm down before we proceeded to tour the rest of the buildings inside of the fort. While there I just couldn't pass up the photo op- yeah, yeah- I know I get the "Mom of the year Award" but honestly can you think of anyone more deserving??? So these are for his first date.... Maybe he won't whine so much to his future wife (Lily)....

Did you ever realize that people are a lot like Easter Eggs? Sounds strange, but as we were dying eggs this morning, they reminded me a lot about how we are as people... Some are more round, some longer. Some look perfect on the outside, but not quite right on the inside~ Some are cracked (me...) Some are more colorful than others- some shine more than others ~ and some just glitter! Some don't look like you first imagined and others turn out to be brighter. Some have variant layers of colors.. and the list could go on- but collectively, they are ALL beautiful in their own unique special way.

A Day with Molly...

Sometimes when life is life- you have to just stop. Stop answering the phone, stop worrying about the to-do list- just stop, roll down the windows of life ~ Laugh, listen and let go... even if only for an afternoon. Yesterday we did that- just for a little while we took a drive and enjoyed a beautiful day. On our journey we stopped at a little antique shop and found a few great things... I found a "chicken pot" that will be perfect for jambalaya and posing babies... (A really cool idea I am borrowing from Kelly Moore.) Anyway, take my advice and take a day for you. Find something you like doing that you don't get to do often enough- with a great friend you don't spend enough time with and relax. Who knows, you might find an adorable little old lady driving a Camaro~ That was worth the whole day! Thanks for spending the day with me Molly. ~S.

There isn't a whole lot I can say about Megan and Jeff because their session says everything more eloquently than I could even begin to say it. They just have so much fun together- the whole family.. and we laughed all day! Especially when we played in the rain. When Deb (Megan's Mom) called and asked if I wanted to reschedule because of pending thunderstorms and 3 days of rain my brain kicked in and immediately I thought it would be fun to do a session in the rain. It was worth it ten times over trying to bounce around under an umbrella for these shots. Thanks for going with my quirky ideas- I love you guys and can't wait for your wedding in October!

There are very few people in life who I look at and think, "I would love to be more like them." And not because my life is so glamorous- my friends know my kids (and hubby on occasion) can drive me crazy and my house gets messy and I feel frantic. But more because I believe each of our lives are ours to live and I feel that God puts each of us here to do a special job that only we can do. We are all given individual talents because God believes we are the best person for that particular job. But every now and then I meet people whose heart and actions line up and you know they just have been touched by God in an extra special way. Kassie and Doug are two of those people who's hearts and love for God, each other and people in general makes me look at my own heart and want to seek God more diligently. Doug is one of our worship leaders and with an incredibly talented team of others like him has brought me to my knees in praise on many occasions and never fail to have me running mascara on any given Sunday. His very lovely wife Kassie is one of the most beautiful women and one of my favorite people in the world. You can find her serving coffee to us on Sundays or serving God in a remote village in South America. No matter where you find her you will feel her smile and heart long before you have the chance to bid her a good morning. She is the most positive and godly woman I know.

It has been almost three years since I had the pleasure of helping to photograph their wedding. (One of only a few that have made me cry like a baby btw.) And now I have had the chance to photograph their maternity session. Doug you hung in there like a champ. I know it is so hard for guys to smile and pose for a camera- so thank you again for your patience. I love the images and love you guys. What a fun weekend we had- busy, but most definitely fun! I am learning that the best predictor of unpredictability is to try to be predictable... so I try to go with the flow and make the absolute most of my time! We started early on Saturday (with some awesome homemade breakfast- thanks Ms. Carol Ann!) with Ms. Cierra who is expecting Miss Payton Lane any day- literally. We were really hoping that she would greet us over the weekend so I could capture her birth story but she is happy hanging out for now. Patty and Hannah joined us later for some fun in the sun- I should say for fun "chasing" the sun. It never fails you wait all day for perfect light and you have such a small window of time before you lose it! But I loved every minute of it! You can't tell from our images be we are using a gracious neighbor's yard as all of the fields were already cut- Who ever said procrastination is not your friend did not drive around trying to find a field of dried grasses!

Ladies (and Steve) thanks so much for all of your patience and willingness to shine for my camera. I have to say that I am very blessed everyday- but a little more when God allows me the opportunity to photograph the most important moments of your life! My intentions are always to be a blessing to other people and it always happens that it is I who am truly blessed!

Beth's Big Bash.. a Sneak Peek

So Ms. Beth thought for her big 5-0 skydiving was a pretty good way to "jump" into this exciting new chapter of her life. Little did she know we already had the foundation laid to a pretty great party! The idea was simple- we would make it all up as we went along- getting everyone in on it was essential because before it was over the lies were deep and the waders were getting short. (If you know what I mean.)

Steve and Mary graciously offered to host the party for her and it was just perfect! We could not have had a more beautiful or more perfect spot for a beach themed party than at their home. After talking with Mary the first time I knew everything would fall into place beautifully! We agreed on pretty much everything and they were so open to my crazy ideas- even pulling out the Christmas lights from the attic!

To make sure Ms. Beth was surprised, we came up with the idea to invite her to a party at Mary and Steve's house. Mary invited her and Neal to a "party for Steve" something for his work. She took the bait- hook, line and sinker! Everyone worked really hard together to put all the finishing touches on the food- decor and especially the memories! It was so fun to see all of the photos of Ms. Beth growing up and through the years. I always feel so blessed to be a part of their family and friends because everyone is so much fun and they are always sure to make you laugh! You all know who you are...and I have photographs!

I have to give a very special thank you to Miss Stephanie for being so helpful as I put the finishing touches on my trees and decorations- You were a God send- thanks! To the guys for cooking all the meat- Sharon and Ms. Hope for all of the food- photos- balloons and help you offered- Dana, Melissa & Rusty for lying all day on Friday and helping me out... and Mitchell for hanging out trying to keep her from being suspicious! And I can't forget Anna- without you, we may not have seen Neal do the bar dance... But mostly to Steve and Mary- you guys were phenomenal to open your hearts and your homes for your friends. The night was perfect and every one's hard work was splendid! Now that I have completed my Academy Awards Speech... I have a few sneak peeks- and Nooo, I left Neal out of this group. So tonight, many thanks to my dear friend Wes, I had the rare opportunity to shoot Mayor Peyton (very quickly) with Sir Elton John and Billy Joel. I cannot say enough about everyone who was there and how incredible the moment was. I am still floating around somewhere excited that I was able to do this. I just hope I did them justice in the 30 sec I had to fire off a couple of shots. Afterwards I was able to make my way onto the floor for most of the concert and had a few relaxed moments to take some shots for fun.

Since I was a little girl I have wanted to meet Elton John and tonight I did. It was more than I ever dreamed. ~S.

They Went... Skyyyyy Diving!

I have the best bosses in the world! Not many people can honestly say that they enjoy working with their boss... And even fewer have the privilege to say they enjoy hanging out with their boss' family and friends. I am one of those few fortunate people who loves going to work every day... 98% of them anyway. So when Neal gave Beth and Melissa the gift of jumping I got excited to get involved. Neal had the idea to make this bulls eye so their jump instructors could easily navigate the way safely to the ground... Little did they know that he also had bets going on who would bounce the highest! Oops, I might not should have said that.. sorry Neal.

On the day of the jump the weather here in Jax was nasty and raining, but a couple of hours away in the Cape the sun was bright and the skies were a perfect day for a jump! I was so tempted to sign up and jump with them, but thought my time might be better served on the ground... Truth be known, I just wanted to get my nerve up! We had a blast all day laughing and cutting up! Beth was playing Sally O'Malley which had me in stitches... "Because I'mmmmmmm 5-0!" She is a riot! Melissa was busy re-applying her makeup (only briefly.... not alllll day.) and Courtney was just hanging out til jump time... We just had such a fun group of friends together and it made the wait for them to get to jump fun.

Of course you know me, I had to fill my time taking photos of everything- I was soon enthralled with the guys packing the shoots- you have to have a lot of trust in these guys. your life is literally in their hands. They worked hard, never letting me disrupt what they were doing- they were total troopers and I have to hand it to them because they were sweating and never missed a beat as busy as they were. Thanks for letting me get in your face.. literally..

My Little Girl is Growing Up...

It hit me pretty hard today that my daughter is preparing for high school... Seriously, High School? I am not old enough to have a daughter in high school yet... Good grief! I actually almost cried today thinking about it- almost. I remember when Bailes started kindergarten- I lost it and I have a feeling I will lose it on the first day of high school.

I have to say- She truly is an amazing girl and I try to tell her as often as I can how remarkable I think she is. Anyway, she auditioned for Theatre Performance at Douglas Anderson tonight and I would like for everyone to say a prayer that God will show favor over her and allow her to be accepted into this school. I truly believe that she will excel in the arts if given the opportunity. (Really, she gets it honest and bless her heart she has had her whole life to practice...) Thanks everyone and I will let you know as soon as we hear from the school. ~S.

Celebration Opened its Doors Again Today.

We launched a new church in Camden today and I was so glad to be a part of the festivities. Pastor Stovall reminded me today that we are here on this earth to serve- not to be served. As tired (and grumpy) that I get and how I long to stay in bed on Sundays... I know that I am a part, if even small, of something MUCH larger than myself. As hectic as my life seems, I know that God has given me the most incredible talent and I intend on using it to the best of my abilities. I still have a lot of learning to do that I might one day live up to my potential, but I am loving the journey and the wonderful people who bless and enrich my life on the way to where ever it is I am going.

It was so nice today to see us grow and how we can impact everyone around us- Remember you never know how much that smile may mean to the person beside you in the check out line or how your attitude may impact a stranger... Being a good Christian goes beyond going to church- or doing something nice for people we know... It is about so much more and everything we do is a part of so much more. God knows we aren't perfect, but He is and his mercies are new everyday. And so should ours be.

Princess Madison....

Turned 4 this weekend! For the longest time it has been the Three Amigos- Zak, Ayden & Lily.... Zak's mom Cathy jokes that Zak will be the "goofy best man" at Ayden and Lily's wedding someday. I guess we'll just have to see when the time comes- but for now we'll cherish the fun times on the journey there. Amber and Lily came up from Tampa so it made the day even more special- I am so glad they are all such good friends. And I hope that they can grow up together. They have all known each other their whole lives and what a story they could write some day- or at least have crazy stories to share at their weddings! I am so very blessed to have my girl friends in my life. I have always been the kind of person who goes for quality over quantity. So when it comes to having friends I try to be very selective because as my pastor says, "If you want to know how your life will turn out look at the people you hang out with." So it is very important to me that I surround myself with like minded people who will lift me up in every area of my life and who will be there when I need a friendly face or a swift kick in the butt.. And my girls are sure to one or the other or both on the same day if necessary.

St. John's Riverkeeper

Recently I have had the privilege of doing a fun project for the St. John's Riverkeeper. Danielle and Kelly have become my newest friends because of their wonderfully contagious personalities and their dedication to teaching our community about the beautiful things we have right in our own back yards. As is common with any place you live, it is very easy to take advantage of all we have to see and do within a few minutes drive.

For example... As many times as I have been on Fort George Island, I always find more things to see just by walking on a different trail. When was the last time you visited Kingsley Plantation and just walked around the grounds or sat in the barn and wondered what life must have been like all those years ago when the plantation was a way of life?

It is on these quiet afternoons that I can walk and talk with my daughter or have a real uninterrupted conversation with God. Just to watch the contour of the beaches and the sheer magnificence of something so simple as an oyster bed reminds me of God's continuous art work in our world of busy...

So I challenge all you to take a drive some place you haven't been in a while- or perhaps you have never been- but take a walk and enjoy what you see. Take in the colors- the smells and the breeze of our beautiful Jacksonville. I sincerely enjoyed this adventure and look forward to future projects. Hope you enjoy! ~S.

Kezia and Sean.... Their Wedding Story

I am so happy to finally be sharing Kezia and Sean's wedding day with everyone! Their wedding was so simple but in the most moving and memorable way. They chose the most beautiful day in January whose sky was the most perfect shade of blue. Like any other wedding I prepare myself mentally as much as I can thinking of all the frames I want to watch for, ideas of things to try, family and friends names... hey, I know that is a long shot, but worth trying for anyway. I had an incredible team working with me to ensure that we had every angle covered- but what I wasn't prepared for was Sean. His heart is filled with so much love for Kezia and Tyler that he couldn't contain it all. He was so excited in every aspect of their day that one look at his emotions and I couldn't help but cry myself. It was simply touching to see how much love they have for each other. Ayden's Adventure...

It is so funny how in your mind you set out to do a certain set of tasks- for me it listed like this: 1. Rake (rake, rake) 2. Edit 3. Work on website 4.Clean.. etc, you get the picture? What I actually accomplished: Uh. Nothing. Not one thing on my to-do list for the weekend... But it was a good weekend overall.. And what I am trying to learn (and apply) is that my chores will be waiting for me. There are no little elves waiting in the walls to step out and do them while we sleep. Hey, that isn't a bad thing to add to my dream board- A girl can dream right? Yesterday we took the kids on a river tour with the St. John's Riverkeeper that was really relaxing and enjoyable. It isn't often that I get to head out on the river. Odd I know since my hubby is a commercial fisherman... I will post those pics in the next few days.

Anyway so we decided to head off this morning in search of a new (new to us) truck for Geoff as his poor truck is on its last leg - and limping quite pitifully I might add. Anyway, one of my favorite lil sweet spots is where we were headed anyway and I have been wanting to take Ayden for a hand full of images. He loves planes- I should rephrase that. He loves anything with a big motor. In fact, we were watching the Gators win the championship the other night and a Dodge Truck commercial comes on. If you haven't seen it has these different types of guys, firemen, military, & cowboys driving the trucks through all sorts of obstacles including off road and fire. So as the truck beats around and the fire ascends upon the truck Ayden says (very excitedly), "Now THAT is a beautiful thing!" So I knew he would love the airplane graveyard. And I was right. He was facinated for about 5 min and then wanted to get into all of them and peek around... So at the end of the day although my chore list wasn't completed, I accomplished even more than I imagined I would. Enjoy. I am. Because in about a minute these moments will have passed me and I will be introducing images of his first day of college... Never pass the opportunity to do something that creates great memories. ~S.

Be "Moore" Willing...

O.k. so this was a little difficult to do if you want the truth... More than actually taking a self portrait- setting up a tripod and angles and trying to put the timer on and run, get into a position you THINK will work- only to hold a smile for 10 seconds (or realize that your hair is IN your eye on second 8...) Run back and look at a blurry image of your nostrils... But Kelly Moore set up a challenge to shoot a self portrait. I believe the purpose was for us, the photographer, to feel what it is like on the other side of the camera. To actually have to live up to our constant commands of "smile, tilt, step over slightly, no, no, ok, right there, don't move... oh, I don't really like it. One more time- sorry." That is what I sound like anyway. It really was a lot harder than I thought it would have been. I thought I would set up and take a couple of quick pics- then 3 hours later.... I had to think (Yes, I do that on rare occasions...)about a lot of things really so this was a fun pair of shoes to wear for a bit.. Anyway, this is my self portrait montage- Hope you like them- personally, I hate images of myself.... but what the heck- it is the beginning of a new year and a new me. ~S.

Wow! Can anyone tell me where the blur we call 2008 went? I still can't believe that we have just started another new year... But I am the more excited about what lies ahead than any that I can remember in a very long time. So what are your resolutions this year? In the past I quit making resolutions so I wouldn't be disappointed with in a few weeks of forgetting what I started out so passionately about. I figured if I said I was going to do it than it had to be done- regardless of circumstances. Life has a funny way of happening doesn't it? So for some reason when I began thinking about what I wanted to do this year I saw it a little differently. Rather than viewing the beginning of the year as a "resolve" and demands sort of list- Molly and I decided to make a "Life Map" really more of a list of things we want to visualize for this year. I highly recommend you get a girlfriend and do this- or do it with your hubby- they are so much fun and really do allow you to focus on your dreams. It is also easier to pray over and seek favor with God on certain areas of your life.

For me a lot of it is tangible.. My business and equipment for my biz., our finances- a home of our own, a Saab (BI-WI... Because I'm Worth It!). But my real focus this year is to simply simplify my life. I want to rid my life of the clutter and unimportant things that tie me down. The first step was to find a loving home for our ferrets- I love pets like the next person (Gwen and Matt are not included in that phrase...no one loves their babies more than them.. I mean Gwen put hers in elf outfits for Christmas. That is some true love between them and the dogs. Probably more the dogs now that I think about it since they actually posed for the photo without doing something sneaky after wards.), but I quickly realized that I have enough to clean and chase after with my kids. Luckily for me a wonderful family has time and loves them more than me and gladly took them in as a playmate with their ferret... I want to get rid of those silly things that take my time like going to the grocery store more than once a week... anything unnecessary has to go-(Excluding the trips to Starbucks Beth... you knew that was coming didn't you?) even if it means I have to learn how to say that small two letter word, "no". That doesn't mean I want to rid my life of blessing others- but I have to be able to actually bless them. I want to help everyone and do all these things but then I am so tired and my to-do list is so long that when I show up I don't want to be there... So I will take on less and make it count more... I also want to make my kids and self count more... Oh, the list could go on- that is my problem... A friend of mine once told me that I am a "compulsive over-achiever". Ouch... but worse, he was right. So I am going to simplify my life. I don't have to conquer the world- only my to-do list today..... So what do you want this year? Would love to hear it... Oh, and this is my "Life as I See it!" ~S.

Showing Martha the Ropes...

O.k., so anyone who has met me at least once knows that I taught Martha Stewart everything she knows... Man, you write one book for someone and BAM! next thing you know they get alllll the credit and you just look like a stalker. So anyway, it just goes without saying that Molly and I are going to win a trip to NYC to meet her and let her know just how many of my ideas she has used... (A lot of my friends think I am really crafty and creative but really it's just the Martha in me. Every now and then I think of a few things on my own.) Seriously, I am a fan of anything ingenious and fun that doesn't cost very much money (or TIME) to create. So when Martha Stewart announced that there was a contest for my winning design, we sprang into action. Well, really it was more like the leisurely stroll of a cat who wants to be petted, but none the less, we used an idea that I came up with for my friend Tracy's wedding and I really would like to see NYC- as I have never been and have always wanted to. Can't you just picture me an Molly in New York!! And you thought the Japanese tourist looked silly with cameras. Ahhh man, just wait! New York City HERE WE COME! Meet Steve, Shannon, Madison & Cameron. We set out this am at the new Arboretum... Yes, I love shooting here. The trails are simple and easy to walk and with such dense forestry in areas you have some play room with lighting if it is too sunny for shooting. What is funny is normally my favorite shots come at the end of a session but today was a little different because my favorite shots were closer to the beginning as well as the end. Ayden got to tag along with me today and I have to say it was such a bitter sweet... The kids got along so well that I think Ayden may have been more of a distraction at times. (so sorry guys!) But they just really seemed to hit it off and I hope that they can get together again soon to play. Enjoy. ~S.

The Sessions Family...

I met Dr. Amy Sessions a couple of months ago because I thought (in that all-knowing self diagnosing sort of way) that I may have had a pinched nerve or something going on in my neck. (o.k. that just felt like a good excuse for my being a little "off".) But since then she has introduced other theories and possibilities of this crazy roller coaster of a life I have seemed to be stuck on over the last year. And as funny as it may sound, I have learned more from her in these months than all of the other 5 doctors combined I have been seeing for more than a year. I cannot tell you how glad I am that I met her. She really has been such a blessing to me. So needless to say, it was an honor to spend some time with her family photographing them. Her boys are just the sweetest and their home really is a haven. It is as warm and inviting as they are. I hope you enjoy and we'll see you again soon. ~S.

Samantha ~ Senior '09

Miss Samantha will be graduating this year and what better way to celebrate 13 years of hard work but with fab fotos! She totally rocked out her images as we bounced around and dodged the sun at the new Arboretum today. Like any shoot she was a little reserved in the beginning and I could tell some of my ideas were sounding a little kooky (just like me) until she was able to see that they were amazing after all.. (just like me!) Just kidding (not really)... but we love Miss Samantha and send you out into the world just like you came in it: Kicking and screaming- "good bye!" that is to all those pesky tests and teachers but "Helllloooo" to so many new and exciting things in store for you. Hanna & Sam... Turning 2

What I love most about kids is that usually they act first then say, "Please...." (or "Sorry!"if you are in my house.) They aren't afraid to get their feet wet.. or their whole body in our case. And they are so easy to spend time with because there are no pretenses. All children want is to play and explore. There is something to be said, in my opinion, for letting go and looking for all of the joy in life. And Hanna and Sam knew just where to find that joy. For Sam it was a well that sprang forth with lots of life every time his little hands went into it. And for Hanna it was all those squirrels scurrying about. She would spread her hands out wide and ask, "Where'd they go?" Too much fun. And what can I say about Sarah except she is absolutely brilliant with them. I have three words for you: Twins Turing Two =oP I have a lot of respect for Sarah and Reggie and they are both wonderful and very loving parents. Thanks again for letting me share the afternoon with you. ~S.

It has been such a pleasure getting to know Jeff and Andrea and I am happy to share their slide show with everyone. This wedding was so much fun because 1.I had the opportunity to meet many of their friends and family involved with or attending the wedding before the actual day. So not only were they a little more at ease with having to look at me all day, but I was able to relax a little myself- o.k. so that is a little white lie as I don't really.... relax until I have the slide show completed... & 2. I had my good friend Wes Lester working with me. I have to say that he added so much to the evening and I could not have done it without him (thank you, thank you & thank you...) so all that said- I sincerely hope you enjoy it and I wish you only the very best and look forward to seeing everyone soon! ~S.

A Cup of Hot Chocolate...

This fits perfectly into an email I sent out inviting photographers to come together and enjoy a cup of coffee so we might all pray over each others businesses as we prepare to close out this year and ready ourselves for a new fresh start! The gist of my email was that we are so busy wondering how to market, meet new people, edit- come up with new ideas, etc. for our business. Often we forget to stop and pray for each other- no matter your profession- we should always bless each other before ourselves. If we put everyone's needs before our own wouldn't our needs always be taken care of? Anyway- I am just at a time personally where I want to put God first in everything I do- my family, my friends- but especially my journey as a relatively new photographer. So enjoy this story that was sent to me... (And by the way, if you would like to join us next Tues, Dec 9th- please do- I will post the place as soon as we decide on a Starbucks that holds more than 3 people in one sitting...=oD)

A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired.

During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work and lives.

Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups - porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the hot chocolate

When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, the professor said:

'Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones.

While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

The cup that you 're drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.

What all of you really wanted was hot chocolate, not the cup; but you consciously went for the best cups.

And then you began eyeing each other's cups.

Now consider this:

Life is the hot chocolate; your job, money and position in society are the cups.

They are just tools to hold and contain life.

The cup you have does not define, nor change the quality of life you have.

Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate God has provided us.

God makes the hot chocolate, man chooses the cups.

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything that they have.

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. And enjoy your hot chocolate!!

What are you thankful for?

Where do I begin? I think during times of crazy-mad, frustration- total loss of control in our life is when we need most to sit quietly and really reflect on all of the wonderful blessings in our life. I know you are probably thinking that I have lost my mind because God knows when everything in your life is literally a whirlwind of chaos mixed with one series of, "What next God?" the last thing on our minds is how blessed we are. Let me explain... A couple of days ago my car started making funny noises- not the tap, tap funny noise- the uh-oh, this is gonna cost me funny noise... So being the highly independent, do-all sorta gal I am... I call my Daddy. He says (and I quote) "Honey, it's Murphy's Law- if it can go wrong, it will around the holidays. But you need to take the car in and have it checked." My wonderful hubby assured me he would look at it that it was probably nothing much besides something simple like a pulley or belt... (Thank God my hubby is good at fishing!) So I decide that I would take it in today to have the oil changed and looked at... Fast forward... driving to work this morning and what would happen? Of course it did... I broke down- had the car towed and called my wonderful friend Holly to come and get me... (she sent her awesome hubby to my rescue and I am so thankful he came...sitting on the side of a busy interstate is never fun!) Anyway, short story long... I have to have a new motor put in my car. Never fun and certainly not as cheap as a pulley-

So, what, you ask during this mess do I have to be thankful for- Well, I am glad you asked. As I took Ayden on to school- they had their Thanksgiving feast today and I did not want him to miss it... I took a moment and watched as the kids were so excited to sit together wearing their construction paper head dresses and "noodle-necklaces" as they prayed and ate together. And I realize that all of the things we are so stressed out about everyday really don't matter when you have wonderful friends to share life with. You know, if we take a minute to look around and are really honest with ourself we'll see that most of what we consider necessity is merely wants- Our real needs are always met when we put our faith and trust in God. He has so abundantly blessed me- yes, even through a $1500 motor- No, I don't have $1500 just sitting around- but our need will be met.

What I do have is a wonderful hubby and beautiful children who pray with me and love me unconditionally- just as God does. I am thankful that He always puts the right people in my life at exactly the precise moment. I am thankful that I have a job that I love going to everyday with bosses who are understanding and always take care of me. I am thankful that we live in a country where I can express my opinions and enjoy freedoms to worship God without fear- that I can freely go out and live my dreams- at least chase them.. I am thankful to have a home and a family and friends who fill my life with love and laughter... I am thankful to have a talent that introduces me to really incredible people and allows me to be a blessing to them.

I have found that when life is great it is so easy to be thankful and easy to realize how blessed we are, but when we are being tested and things look as though there is no way out of the situation we are in, can you look around and see just how blessed you are? Sean and Kezia were recently married at Anastasia State Park on one of the most beautiful days I have ever seen! Wow was it gorgeous! Shhhh, don't say anything, but I cried at their wedding! Normally, I am so busy thinking about angles and not missing a moment that I don't always hear everything being said- but because this particular ceremony was so up close and personal I heard every word and seeing the love that they so obviously have for each other is in itself amazing... My heartfelt thanks to two of the greatest girlfriends EVER for helping me out and actually staying and finishing up for me... First comes love, then comes the White Trash Wedding Bash then comes together a fabulous group of people to celebrate Jeff and Andrea's wedding day! They were married surrounded by such wonderful friends and family at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. They celebrated long after we left last night and again opened their hearts and home to me this afternoon for a cook out with... you guessed it friends and family.

My journey with them began earlier this year and I have to say that they have been so awesome to work with. It isn't so often that you are afforded the opportunity to spend time really getting to know everyone on such a personal note as I have with them and their friends. And even though I was hired as their photographer I really feel like we have become friends along the way. It has been an honor and I certainly hope that you enjoy your images as much as I have enjoyed getting to know you both. Before I sign off I have to say thank you, thank you, thank you to Wes for all of his expertise and help with the wedding. Ben Johnson said "True friendship consists not in the multitude of friends, but in their worth and value". We are certainly blessed.

Cari & Andy are Married!

First, let me say that I would love to sit up all night editing these images. When I started going through everything I decided to choose my favorite few to start with as a teaser before the slide show... However, because I have so many favorites it is not possible to do in a night...

But what a beautiful wedding. I was so honored to have shared this day with Cari and Andy. They are just so adorable together and if you ever had a doubt if true love existed- check this post on a regular basis. It is worth every minute of editing when you can feel how much couples mean to each other.

Having children of my own, I am not surprised by much- usually. But I have to say that I just couldn't get over how much Hannah and Sam have grown this year. I know it is so cliche, but really just since a little less than a year ago they have gone from babies not quite walking to running all over and clearly speaking... They really do grow up just too quickly. It seems like if you blink you'll miss it so that is why I love being able to get fun candid shots of children being themselves. These are the moments to truly cherish and I am so blessed to be a part of that. Thanks so much Sarah and Reggie for allowing me to have spent the time with your beautiful family. ~S.

David and Tracy Family & After Session

A Chapter Closing....

I have put off thinking about Friday for as long as I could. But the time has officially come for our goodbyes... and honestly, as I write this my eyes are blurred with tears and I don't know how I am going to get through the actual farewell to Lily & Amber.

Anyone who has read more than one of my posts knows that Lily and Ayden are best friends and have been together since they were 3 months old. We joke all the time that they act like a little old married couple the way they fight and make up on a daily basis. We know the kids will be fine and will quickly slip back into their routines- it is the adults I am worried about. Hardly a day goes by that Amber and I don't talk, e-mail or meet up at the same time to get the kids and end up in the parking lot still talking well after everyone else has locked up and gone home for the day.

Ayden and I have talked about them moving and when asked if he realizes he won't see Lily everyday he thinks for a minute and says, "Hum, welll... we'll just have to get a new house." He has it all figured out. And fortunately for them, so do we. We are prearranging their marriage so that all the guess work will be taken out of whether we'll like the people they date... and more importantly, will we like the in-laws. So rather than be sad about this chapter of our life as it closes, I will rejoice in the new journey Lily and her family is about to embark upon... Love you guys and Amber you have to watch this by yourself- I cried trying to set up the music... ~S.

I have been home from San Diego for 3 weeks now from getting to spend time with my very dear friend Kristina and already I am very ready to go back. Kris and I met 5 years ago when I moved to Florida. I didn't know it when she hired me to work with her that we would have been through so much life together, but God knows I would do every bit of it again just so we could be friends. She is one of those very rare people in life who are exactly as they seem to be. For a long time I kept waiting for things to change... You know what I mean. You are friends with someone and for a while it is great and then it just isn't anymore because of one circumstance or another- And as many times as I have moved in my life- the one thing I can promise you is that you know who your true friends are if after a move they stay in touch with you. We have. Not as often as we would like being on different coasts, but isn't that the way all great relationships go?

Fast forward and enter Ken... I knew from the moment I heard the excitement in Kris' voice that I would adore Ken. He is warm, so friendly and he just loves Kris as much and more than any one person can. I am just so excited to be able to celebrate life with them now and next year when they are married. For now, I have a few favorites to share with you. Love you guys much. ~S.

Meet Micah & Megan...

So last Saturday I had the pleasure of meeting Micah, Megan & Jesiah. What a beautiful and sweet family. And how gorgeous they are together! We met early on the beach and they were so much fun and so comfortable with each other that they make my job look really easy. I love how Micah looks at Megan and how gently he holds her in his hands. And Jesiah- what a handsome little guy. I can picture him on the cover of Surfer Magazine some day breaking all the girls hearts! Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to spend the morning with you guys.
